Cake for a party...
Here's a sandcastle cake I made for a last day party at Yousuf's preschool. I got the idea from Family Fun magazine. Don't you just love kid's cakes? They make me smile.
Here is a link for the how to. It was really easy. I made mine larger than theirs because I was feeding 30 kids... So I did a 9x13 and 2 8x8 cakes. One mistake I would be careful not to repeat is that I didn't apply the "sand" quickly enough and parts of the icing had dried already so it didn't stick.
I am a mother to four wonderful kids and the wife to one wonderful Egyptian! We live in a small town in the Midwest and work in our small businesses. I am also a Waldorf preschool teacher and childcare provider, a backyard chicken lady, a part time homeschooler, and a generally crunchy mama (think hijabi in birks).

Oh wow! That is a brilliant idea! So what did you use for the sand? I'll have to remember this one - my little boy would be so impressed!
