They're back!

While DH was in the hospital, I had a raging case of thrush., Which, as everyone who has ever had it know, is a nursing mother's nightmare. After a week of nystatin the yeast was going nowhere. I was cracked, sore and even had some infection... It was miserable, I did three days of gentian violet and took some diflucan. Things started to heal, and once the thrush went away entirely the infection subsided.

Now, I am seeing some yeast on the baby's mouth... And last night I started to feel the burn. Yikes! I guess I better lay off the sugar! Hello purple boo-boos. Hello purple baby. This sucks.

After reading the info on the link about Thrush, I'm now wondering if maybe we have it as well. The baby has white stuff on his lips and in his mouth. I'm really sore, dry, and am flaking. I've also had the shotting pain that the article mentions. I'll have to talk to the doctor about it at my appt on Friday.

Let me know if you need some advice. And take care of it so you don't get the nasty cracking like stupid should've known better me!LOL

I was reading your blog, might be why he's fussy too. It can mess with thier digestion and make them gassy and uncomfortable if it gets bad enough.

Gentian violet is carcinogenic... don't use it.

There have been some studies linking it to mouth cancer, but I don't feel they show the link strongly enough to dismiss it as a last resort. I try other things first, but when you're stuck it works wonders. I agree though that repeated use is ill advised.
