Halfway mark...

When I started dieting I was 151 lbs. Way too much for my 5 feet... Just too much. My goal is to make it to 110. This week I hit 130, which means I am halfway to my goal, masha'Allah. There have been setbacks, stalls and I have started longingly at many deserts during that time. However, I feel like I am getting somewhere with this whole weight loss thing... I feel better, my clothes fit, and even though I don't see a big difference in the mirror DH keeps reassuring me that he can see it.

I have been doing a modified South Beach plan. I keep the carbs low, the fiber high. I am getting bored with it though. I wish I could say there is no problem with limiting myself, and I don't miss the foods I have cut out... But I do. I think that I will be able to maintain my weight with more carbs, but to keep losing I have had to limit them. Unfortunately, there are only so many ways you can prepare a chicken breast!LOL And I miss cereal for breakfast!!!

Anyway, just an update on the diet thing... I'm still at it!

A question. How do you feel overall? Do you have more energy in the mornings? Do you suffer from low/high sugar moments since you've been on this diet?

I need to get back on the bandwagon myself. I don't feel too healthy, and I know I'm not. I've been trying to do changes with my eating and alhamdulillah for the steps I have taken, but I'm still way behind.

I hear ya sis, salsa is NOT a substitute for flour...which I could eat off a spoon...
Inshallah, once we hit our goal we can enjoy our favs in MODERATION...I keep telling myself that it (the food I immediately desire) is not going anywhere.
Be strong sister! That vessel is only on loan and you gotta give it back in the best condition possible, inshallah.

UmmLayth, I feel pretty good overall. I feel the best when I fill up on salad with some meat on top. I think my energy is up overall.

Brooke, I know what you are saying. I agree that the end is in site... I just have to remind myself that this part is a phase. In the end as long as I am watching portions I will be able to go back to my normal diet, insha'Allah.

Assalamu alaikum,

Stumbled upon your blog and have enjoyed reading some of the posts.
Losing weight is a bear. Hang in there. Make dua each morning for Allah to help you.

That is such a great accomplishment! Congrats! I am also on the weightloss wagon but have been doing it for the past 2 weeks via a doctors office (prescription and diet shot). I've lost something like 13 pounds this past 2 weeks and yes it's so boring eating the same foods.

We observe lent so I can't eat any red meat which limits me to pultry and fish. I can't wait till this week is over. It's bad because on top of that I can't eat many carbs so not many options for me.

Good luck & keep up the great job!

asalaam alaikum sister,

Congrats! I am trying myself to get under 200 lbs. I am currents at about 230, with an overall weight loss over the past 2 years of about 80 pounds. This winter I have not made much progress as I have been ill a lot. Insha'Allah I will get there. Spring is coming, I imagine I will get outdoors more.
